Casato: Italian jewellery that carries a story of identity, transformation and feminine beauty
12 May 2026

There are brands that sell jewellery. And there are brands that build a philosophy around it. Casato belongs to the second group.
Founded in 2004 in Rome, Casato was envisioned from day one as something more than a jeweller's atelier. Its founder, Federico Gauttieri, did not start with a collection; he started with a question. What does jewellery mean to the woman who wears it? What can it say about her, about the moment, about the transformation she is going through?
He built the answer to those questions over the years, collection by collection.
A name that carries heritage
The word casato in Italian denotes noble family origin, that invisible root that shapes who you are and where you come from. Federico Gauttieri chose this word deliberately, as a proclamation: value is not only in what you make, but in what you carry within yourself when you make it.
Gauttieri grew up in Rome, in a family with French roots and a deeply Roman spirit. Studying gemmology and a love for Renaissance art shaped his view of jewellery, not as an ornament, but as an object that carries meaning, that lasts, that is passed down.
As artistic director and CEO of the brand, he still defines every collection personally today.
An elf that became a trademark
Every Casato piece hides one small, carefully placed detail: an elf, a slender, shiny figure hovering somewhere on the jewellery, quiet and recognisable.
The elf is a metaphor for transformation and the affirmation of identity and personality. Gauttieri chose it as a symbol that connects the real world and the world of fairy tales, light, almost elusive, yet free in its every movement.
That little detail is not a decorative trick. It is a signature. Whoever recognises the elf, recognises Casato.

Rome as inspiration, Milan as the horizon
Gauttieri developed the brand like a tree growing on the path between Rome and Milan, with roots deep in the Roman Dolce Vita tradition and branches reaching wisely towards Milan, a city open to changes and challenges.
That duality, nostalgia and modernity, tradition and avant-garde, can be read in every piece. Casato jewellery is not nostalgic. But it is not coldly modern either. It lies somewhere in between, in a space where glamour meets a story.
The Rome collection draws inspiration from the visual language of the Eternal City: architecture, mosaics, classic shapes that have endured for centuries. The Arabesque collection heads in a completely different direction, towards elaborate Oriental patterns that bring depth, movement and contrast.
Craftsmanship without compromise
Every Casato piece is a unique hand-made creation, crafted in the brand's atelier. Master jewellers combine traditional techniques with modern tools, but the hand remains at the centre of every process.
The jewellery is conceived as a miniature work of art, with unusual combinations of hidden details and extraordinary volumes that give each collection a strong character.
The materials are uncompromising: 18-karat gold in yellow, white and rose variations, diamonds, rubies, sapphires and coloured gemstones that Gauttieri selects personally, with the eye of a gemmologist and the feel of an artist.

Jewellery for a woman who knows what she wants
Casato jewellery speaks to confident women who appreciate jewellery that is experienced both as luxury and as something wearable.
This is no accidental phrasing. Casato is not jewellery kept in a box and taken out for gala dinners. It is jewellery to be worn with a morning outfit, a business ensemble, or an evening dress. It looks luxurious because it is, but it requires no special occasion to be brought out.
Gauttieri summarised that philosophy in a single sentence describing the entire brand: "Jewellery designed to make every woman more beautiful."
