Diamond earrings

One of the most versatile pieces of diamond jewellery

Diamond earrings are among the most frequently worn pieces of diamond jewellery. Unlike an engagement ring, which is usually worn every day in the same form, earrings are easily changed and adapted to different occasions, from discreet everyday models to more opulent earrings for special events. Due to their versatility, customers often opt for multiple pairs of diamond earrings that they can mix and match depending on their style and the occasion. The Zlatara Andrejević collection in Belgrade features over 170 models of diamond earrings. All diamonds undergo internal quality control performed by GIA-educated gemmologists, in line with the standards our family has nurtured for eight decades.

The first piece of a diamond collection

Diamond earrings are often the first piece of diamond jewellery in a person's collection, before a bracelet, necklace or ring. For this reason, they are frequently given for an 18th birthday, graduation, wedding anniversary or the birth of a child, occasions that can mark the beginning of a personal jewellery collection.

As a "first piece", diamond earrings can carry special emotional meaning and symbolically mark a transition from one life stage to another. When building a broader diamond jewellery collection later on, those first earrings remain a reference point shaping all subsequent choices: the metal tone, quality of stone, and stylistic approach.

Over 170 models for different styles and occasions

Our collection of diamond earrings offers a much wider range than other diamond jewellery categories, starting from around 38,000 RSD for classic diamond earrings, through 60,000–150,000 RSD for mid-range earrings with more striking stones or designer shapes, up to 300,000 RSD and above for opulent hoop earrings and designer pieces from Italian houses. The selection features models in 14k and 18k gold, in yellow, white and rose gold, as well as in various gold combinations.

Particularly sought after are:

  • Classic diamond earrings (studs): discreet models that fit close to the earlobe, most commonly with one diamond each.
  • Heart earrings: with a heart shape and one or several diamonds. A traditional gift for anniversaries and special occasions.
  • Flower earrings: with several diamonds arranged in a floral shape, where the combined sparkle of multiple stones creates a more visually striking effect than a single stone of the same carat weight.
  • Hoops with brilliant-cut diamonds: a modern format where diamonds are set along the hoop, delivering a distinctive continuous sparkle.
  • Designer earrings: Chimento, Cammilli and other Italian brands with a signature touch.

The price range is deliberately broad because earrings include both subtle everyday pieces and luxurious statement designs, allowing you to choose a model for various styles, occasions and budgets.

How to choose diamond earrings

Choosing diamond earrings differs from selecting most other jewellery items because earrings sit next to the face, they must complement not only a woman's style, but also her face shape, hairstyle and skin tone.

Studs and smaller earrings are the most versatile choice, suited to every face shape and occasion. This is why they are the most popular first choice and recommendation for those purchasing diamond earrings for the first time.

For larger designs, consider their proportions relative to the face, hairstyle and personal style. Elongated earrings can visually lengthen a rounder face, while hoops, floral shapes and wider models can balance longer features. Hair colour can also influence how much a particular model stands out; diamonds create a beautiful contrast with darker hair, while the shape and colour of gold can further complement lighter hair tones. Ultimately, the most important factor is how a specific model looks when tried on.

When buying earrings as a gift, our team can help you with practical advice. Often, bringing a photograph or telling us what type of jewellery she usually wears is enough for us to select several models that best suit her style together.

Stone quality in earrings

The quality of diamonds in earrings is evaluated according to the same 4Cs criteria as for engagement rings, but for a pair of earrings, matching the stones to each other is particularly important. A ring features a single central stone where every detail matters; with earrings, you have two stones that must be virtually identical. Larger variations in carat weight, colour, clarity, or cut can disrupt the harmony of the pair, which is why the stones are carefully matched.

At Zlatara Andrejević, all diamonds in earrings undergo an internal quality check according to GIA standards that the Andrejević family has applied for over eight decades. Our standard is that the diamonds in a pair are meticulously matched by carat weight, colour, clarity, and cut, ensuring the earrings look harmonious. For earrings with individual larger stones (from 0.20 carats upwards per stone), we also provide separate certificates from recognized gemmological laboratories, GIA, IGI, or HRD. For earrings with multiple smaller stones (flower motifs, hoops with pavé sections), the quality guarantee lies in our internal standard (G/H colour, VS/SI clarity as the baseline level). We explain more about what certificates mean in detail in the text

Carat weight of the pair: how the size is determined

For most pairs of diamond earrings, the stated carat weight represents the total weight of the diamonds in the pair. For example, a 0.50 ct designation can indicate two stones of approximately 0.25 ct each. Therefore, when comparing models, it is important to check whether the stated weight refers to an individual stone or the total diamond weight.

Practical sizes of an individual stone:

  • 0.05–0.10 carats, the most discreet stud earrings, a practical choice for everyday wear and a first diamond piece.
  • 0.10–0.25 carats, a medium format, visible but not dominant, one of the most frequently chosen sizes.
  • 0.25–0.50 carats, striking earrings that "get noticed", a popular choice for anniversaries and special occasions.
  • 0.50 carats and above, sumptuous earrings, a statement format, where the size, quality, and mutual harmony of the stones are particularly highlighted.

You can find all details of the 4Cs criteria with recommendations in the text 4Cs of diamonds, a guide to diamond quality. For a comprehensive overview of everything worth knowing before purchasing diamond jewellery, visit the educational diamond guide.

Renowned brands in our collection

Alongside pieces from the Andrejević family workshop, which make up the majority of the collection, our selection of diamond earrings also features carefully chosen models from world-renowned designer houses.

Chimento is an Italian designer house with a distinctive aesthetic, Chimento earrings often feature geometric, contemporary shapes where diamonds form part of the artistic concept, not just decoration. Their designer hoops and statement models are particularly sought after.

Cammilli (Annamaria Cammilli) brings Italian jewellery-making tradition together with a modern design approach, offering earrings with a characteristic signature recognizable even from a distance.

Nanis is an Italian house whose earrings are characterized by a refined balance between classic craftsmanship and design innovation, frequently chosen by women who desire diamond earrings with a subtle yet distinctive brand identity.

Casato brings traditional Italian jewellery craftsmanship combined with a modern sensibility, focusing on timeless formats such as stud earrings and classic hoops.

For customers considering a more affordable alternative, the Luminore collection offers earrings with lab-grown diamonds, which share the exact same chemical, physical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. Within the same budget, it is possible to select diamonds of higher carat weight or superior colour and clarity characteristics. The price difference is particularly noticeable in larger classic earrings, where an individual diamond is set in each piece. Read more about this in the article Natural or lab-grown diamond: how to make the right decision.

Earrings as part of a broader collection

Diamond earrings naturally complement other pieces of diamond jewellery. Classic diamond earrings easily pair with a diamond engagement ring, a diamond wedding band, or other diamond jewellery, especially when crafted in the same gold colour.

For special occasions, earrings can be combined with diamond bracelets and a diamond necklace into a coherent ensemble. The most striking effect is achieved when all components share the same metal tone and stones of similar quality, which is why our team in the store often works with clients on building a long-term collection, rather than just a single purchase.

For women who view earrings as a starting piece, our range of gold earrings also includes models without diamond accents in all three gold tones, for clients who build their collection gradually.

Why matching diamonds is a demanding process

When selecting diamonds for earrings, a gemmologist evaluates not only each stone individually, but also their harmony as a pair. Differences in dimensions, colour, clarity, or cut can become more noticeable when two stones are worn side by side. For this reason, meticulous matching of diamonds is one of the most critical steps in crafting earrings.

Three qualified gemmologists of the Andrejević family guarantee this standard.

Aleksandar Andrejević, GIA Graduate Gemologist with sixteen years of experience, personally sorts diamond pairs before they enter the crafting process, aiming to make any differences in colour, clarity, cut, and carat weight as minimal and visually imperceptible as possible.

Andreja Andrejević, qualified gemmologist, participates in controlling the setting of the stones, ensuring their placement and angle are perfectly aligned.

Kosta Andrejević, holder of a GIA Diamonds diploma and founder of the family design philosophy, established the quality control standards that continue to guide our work today.

Every pair of earrings leaves our workshop with an accompanying document stating the materials and characteristics of the set stones.

Frequently asked questions about diamond earrings

What is the price of diamond earrings at Zlatara Andrejević?

Prices cover a wide range, from discreet everyday stud models to sumptuous designer pieces from Italian houses. A detailed price overview with ranges by category can be found in the More than 170 models section above.

What is the most popular size for classic diamond earrings?

In our jewellery store, stud earrings with an individual stone of 0.10 to 0.25 carats are most frequently chosen, providing a visible, yet non-dominant sparkle suitable for everyday wear. For more striking special occasions, earrings with stones of 0.50 carats and above are popular. If you are buying your first pair of diamond earrings, our recommendation is to start with a medium category, which can later be complemented with more extravagant pairs for special occasions.

Can I wear diamond earrings every day?

Yes. Classic diamond stud earrings that fit close to the earlobe are practical for daily wear. Although a diamond is exceptionally hard, earrings should still be protected from impacts, chemicals, and potential damage to the clasp or setting. It is recommended to remove them before sleeping, showering, swimming, and playing sports.

How do we know if two diamonds in a pair of earrings match?

Our standard is that the diamonds in a pair should be as uniform as possible in terms of carat weight, dimensions, colour, clarity, and cut. Our gemmologists evaluate the stones both individually and together, ensuring that any differences are visually imperceptible when the earrings are worn.

Can individual stones be replaced if one is lost?

Yes, though finding a suitable replacement can be demanding. An existing stone can be replaced with a diamond of approximately the same carat weight, but the new stone must also be matched for dimensions, colour, clarity, and cut. At Zlatara Andrejević, we keep records of the stones set in our earrings, allowing us to search for the closest available replacement. Regular checks of the clasps and careful storage of the earrings remain the best prevention.

Do diamond earrings fit standard pierced ears?

Most classic diamond earrings feature a post of standard thickness and are designed for conventionally pierced earlobes. For helix, tragus, and other types of piercings, it is necessary to check the dimensions, clasp type, and intended purpose of the specific model.

How far in advance should diamond earrings be ordered?

If you are choosing from our existing collection (170+ models), earrings are usually available immediately. For bespoke orders or specific combinations of metals and gemstones, please allow two to four weeks. For a matched pair with gemstones of a specific quality, allow three to six weeks, as finding the perfect pair requires a careful selection from our inventory.
